- Who joined the loyalists and assisted in the restoration of
Malcolm Ceanmore in 1057. For this service he was,
according to the family historian, raised with many others
to the dignity of a “Lord Baron,” on the 25th of April in that
year; but such dignities it seems were not hereditary in
Scotland in those days, but ended with the lives of those on
whom they were conferred, though, in many cases, they
were renewed to their sons. This does not appear to have
happened in the case of the Camerons, and the dignity
died with its first possessor. He was succeeded by his
eldest son.
